Microsoft has begun rolling out the Lumia Denim update to select devices in India, China, and several markets in Europe. The firm had first released the Lumia Denim update with the launch of the Nokia Lumia 830 in September.
Nokia Lumia 520 and Lumia 525 users in India on Thursday reported they were receiving the Lumia Denim update, while European users from Wednesday started reporting availability of the update for the Lumia 530, Lumia 625, Lumia 635, Lumia 925, Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1320 handsets in addition, across a variety of carriers.
Meanwhile, over in China, the update reportedly began rolling out on Wednesday as well, for the Lumia 520, Lumia 525, Lumia 526, Lumia 625, Lumia 720, 720T, and Lumia 1320.
The Lumia Denim update, apart from the changes Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 brings (such as Cortana, Live folders, Apps Corner, SMS merge and forwarding, Snooze Times, Consumer VPN, IE improvements), also adds certain exclusive features to Lumia devices.
The Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 Preview has been available to download since August, and the company had back then announced Cortana availability would be expanded from just the US to other countries including India, China, Canada, Australia and the UK.
The exclusive Lumia features in the Lumia Denim update brings the Lumia Camera app to select devices (Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, Lumia 1520, Lumia 830), and other camera improvements, apart from the Glance screen, and Hey Cortana voice activation (again only on Lumia 930 and Lumia Icon).
